Mukti Trust's Activities
Mukti Trust’s first project has been to build a hostel in Chaparda, Visavader (Taluka), Junagadh, Gujarat, India, for 100 orphaned and/or disadvantaged girls.
Chaparda is a small village with a population of 2000, and is located 30 miles from Junagadh and a similar distance from Gir Forest.
The building of the hostel was completed in December 2006. There are now 100 girls from all around Gujerat residing in the hostel where they are not only gaining a good academic education at the neighbouring school, but are also learning to become independent and explore their creativity through cooking classes, music lessons and general arts and crafts. This setting has encouraged friendship, a sense of community and belonging.

"The Mukti Trust Hostel in Chaparda"
The girls at the hostel attend the school set up by the charity organisation Bhagvatinandji Education Trust (BET) in India, in conjunction with Bhagvatinandji Education and Health Trust (BEHT) in UK. BET has been working and living among the rural community for many years and therefore has developed ways in which to relieve local problems as they have a deep understanding of the area. Mukti trust is also working in conjunction with BET on this particular project.

"The girls attend the neighborhood school, previously for boys only."
One girl movingly told a recent trustee visitor, "I felt as if I was being tossed about in the wind when I lost my parents but you came and built this beautiful hostel and made it possible for me to go to school and now I have a chance in life."
